Yolk Farm is a vibrant agricultural business that combines the production of quality home-reared products with a welcoming experience for the public. Our aim is to provide a space where the community can connect with agriculture, enjoy fresh produce, and participate in various farm-related activities. We have an onsite farm shop, restaurant, and play barn and hold events throughout the year to teach people of all ages about the farming industry.

We are looking for a motivated and versatile individual to join our team in a combined role as Farm Manager / Farm Park Site Manager, playing a key part in our daily agricultural operations and the upkeep of our beautiful site, particularly the public-facing Farm Park areas. This is a dynamic, hands-on role where no two days are the same, requiring a proactive and detail-oriented individual. You will be a key player in ensuring the smooth running of our agricultural operations and the success of our events, as well as contributing to a positive guest experience through excellent site maintenance and animal welfare. You will work closely with the General Manager, using your initiative and problem-solving skills to meet the daily demands of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Livestock Management: Oversee livestock (goats, pigs, alpacas), ensuring their welfare is above industry standards. This includes planning production, liaising with vets, and managing feed and supplies.
  • Poultry Management: Manage the husbandry of our 500 free-range hens, ensuring animal welfare is maintained to the highest standards. This includes daily care, health monitoring, egg collection, and maintaining their living environment.
  • Egg Production and Deliveries: Manage wholesale egg operations, ensuring sufficient supply for the shop, kitchen, and wholesale customers, and complete egg deliveries.
  • Horticulture & Ground Care: Plan and manage the production of quality horticultural products including our onsite vegetable garden and maintain the site's grounds to a high standard. This includes ensuring self-sufficiency in native species and preparing the site for seasonal events.
  • Farm Park Maintenance & Upkeep: Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of Farm Park facilities, including buildings, enclosures, pathways, signage, and play areas, ensuring they are safe, clean, and well-presented.
  • Events: Assist in the planning, logistics, set-up, and execution of seasonal events, ensuring a positive guest experience. This will include supporting the setup and logistical operations for events within the Farm Park.
  • Site Maintenance: Complete general repairs and maintenance efficiently across the entire site.
  • Building and Planning the Future: We are looking for a self-starter who can think laterally about potential farm growth to offer more to customers.
  • Administration : Maintain accurate records and complete all necessary paperwork related to livestock, egg production, maintenance, and other operational data.
  • Resource Management: Monitor and manage resources related to site maintenance and animal care, ensuring efficient use of equipment and supplies.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards related to farm operations and public access within the Farm Park.

We're Looking for Someone With:

  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • Farming/Agriculture (livestock, horticulture, ground care)
    • Maintenance (general repairs, site upkeep)
    • Events (planning, logistics, execution)
  • Strong foundation in agriculture or site maintenance.
  • Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and a commitment to ensuring high standards of animal welfare, with specific experience or a willingness to learn about poultry care.
  • A positive, hardworking attitude with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Practical skills with hand tools and potentially tractors and machinery.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Ability to operate and maintain farm equipment and tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Good communication skills for coordinating with colleagues and contractors.
  • Some experience in event support or a willingness to learn.
  • A driving license is required.

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability

Note: This role is physically demanding and requires working outdoors in all weather conditions.
